1,, Prior to the fall of 1951, the former Slauohter House Barracks OA Tont Street
in ayoer (P /NY 411.) was occupied by 6oviet troops. The instal:La b.on consisted
of a two?story main buildincp a*Dout 60 x'15 meters, and several enr..l.,.er annexes.

yard. They had pasunatic tires and nuzzle brakes? Prior to Doceober 19515 about.
100 Sovi_et soldiers wore quartered in several private houses and a boat house sourn
of tho Small Danube River just east of Avfalu ?ridge. According
residents., they belon7ed to a teleohone line construction unit.

still under construct-ion was occalied by liungarian soldiers, 'bout 4,770 thirds of
them wore red service color and about one third green service color. ..-oliers were
repeatedly seen engaed in service of the piece drill in the barracks yard. Never
were there more than two guns at one time whose caliber was estimated at 70 or 80
mk.m. borne officers v apartment houses had been constructed on the road frem the town
to the installation about 500 meters north of the installation. This ros(3 was
paved with squared stones as, acording to construction workers 9 a tank unit was
to occupy one section of the installation.
In the sumer of 1951, a troop tent camp was northwest of V?rosioed (P 43/D .58)
passing by twice4 source noticed that a number of telephone lines led into
the camp where soldiers were practicing.
During the period from 10 to 12 December 19514 the 1932 class was reistefed for
the draft in the town ball of Papa. The draftees received no individiraa induction
orders but were informed collectively by posters.
Prior to October 1951, a Hungarian tank unit was quartered in the new barracks
installation north of Tata T'(-6vgros (P 48/k 94)'. The personnel of this unit wore
blue service color including some with a small tank as branch-of-service insignia,
Soldiers were repeatedly seen practicing at a training field between Tat.,. T6Vros
and Vertesszoelloes 48h:94). No armored vehicles wore seen there. An
observation tower was in the center of the training field. ***
Prior to the fall of 19515 source repeatedly noticed a low building surrounded by
wire fence andgtprded by soldiers with undetermined service color abolt 4 km. '
northeast of the 'an.hida (Q 48/Y.94) railroad station. This building was connected
with the railroad station by a rather poor road. Local residents said that an
ammunition depot located deep in the rock was located there.
