1. Attempts were being made in the middle of May 1952 by Herrera,
Venezuelan Minister to Sweden, the Finnish firm Anglo-Nordic Ltd.,,,
and Osmo Kopola (an official of the Finnish Licensing Bureau) to
organize a barter deal between Venezuela, Finland, and Rumania.
2. The Rumanians have been asked whether they would be interested in
acquiring hides from Venezuela and streptomycin and penicillin from
Israel, in exchange for pullman type railroad cars from Finland to
Venezuela and Israel. Quantities are not known. It is also not yet
known how the transaction will be arranged between Rumania and Finland.
The.Rumanians have replied that they have sufficient stocks of hides
and penicillin, but that they are interested in acquiring streptomycin.
