1. The airfield was northwest of Zelikza (45?17'E/
53?139x1), Penza Oblast, about 4 km north of the
Penza (45?O'E/53?l22V)-Syzran (48?28'E/53?10'N)
highway,, and just north of Stepanovkao There
was a 1,,500-meter runway covered with concrete
slabs,
2, Three wooden officers' cantonment buildings,,
each 5x6xl5 meters two cantonment buildings
for pilots two ration depots and one adminis-
tration building, a large and a small radio
installation and an underground fuel dump were
at the field,

3. The field was occupied by 70 to L'0 4,1,1o-engine fighters
with retractable landing gear.
de. The airfieldras north of Zclikza, about 5 km north of the
new road and about 1 km northeast of Charnodanovo (450141V
53015`1+) a Small individual buildings %ore seen.
5. The number of aircraft stationed at the field varied
between 2 and 30 twin-ont,ine low-wing, monoplanes with
radial eng,nes and single rudder assembly.. 'lcere was
individual and formation flying with up to 30 plarietc,
6. The large Zelikza airfield, north of a nev: mad, was an
old military field enlarged by cl::ared woodland. ;v new
1,000-imeter runway wars constructed.
The field was not occupied while construction work was
being done,
C, A large airfield vi as about 11 W. north of ::elikza and
5 km north of the revs road. It was Lv-ice as large as
the Luobeck-k3lardcensee airfield. There were concrete
runvra,vs, large hangars and earth bunkers as quarters,
