The purpose of the study is to discover tie ohermacological effects ,
of certain groups of c(s.e 'I prepared by Dr. and associates
of the Legartment of In other words, we. to tAke a-further
step into the most basic asnects of pharmacologye-biochemorphology, or the
relation of chenical structure and physical properties of new chemical
compounds to biological activity. We propose to test the following com-
pounds:
a. Various synthetic isoquinoline derivatives._
b. Heterocyclic compounds-containing two pr more ring systems.
It is highly desirable to accumulate_portinent data on all these -
types of new compounds for the_treatment_of_disease as well as for the
advancement of science itself.
These compounds will be tested on the:

Central nervous system.
Autonomic MINVIS system.
Sensory nerves.
Sensory nerve ends.
Somatic motor neurones,
This classification, of course, includes drags such as those producing
hallucinations, tranquilization, sedation, anesthesia, adrenergic and
cholinergic effects, and general and local analgesia. In addition, the
compounds will be tested ac to their effect on the smooth muscle itself
and on possible anteccenism to histamine.
