The office of the Information and Privacy Coordinator has received your
24 November 2006 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for:
�`records on the interrogation and deposition of Jozef Swiatlo, Polish
Secret Police defector in 1953.... [You] would like to obtain transcripts
of his debriefing and any documents relating to the activities and
crimes of the NKVD... in post-WWII Poland and their control over
the Polish Communist government."

can neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of records responsive to your
request. The fact of the existence or nonexistence of requested records is properly

disclosure by section 6 of the CIA Act of 1949, as amended. Therefore, the Agency has
denied your request pursuant to FOIA exemptions (b)(1) and (b)(3). I have enclosed an
