SUMMARY OF. A DOCUMENT FROM A CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY FILE
OF EUGENIO R. MARTINEZ
Eugenio R. martinez Careaga
Mr. Eugenio R. Martinez Careaga was interviewed by the Central
Intelligence Agency in February 1964 as to (1) the question of whether he had
been discussing information regarding Central Intelligence Agency operations
with unauthorized persons, and (2) his relationship--at that time--with any of
the individuals connected with a Central Intelligence Agency supported project
directed at Cuba. Subsequently, during 1964, the CIA began to sever its
relationship with the project.
Some months prior to the interview, Mr. Martinez, who had been
associated with the aforementioned project at the time, was requested to choose
between working within the project structure or working directly for the Central
Intelligence Agency. He chose the latter.
As a result of the interview, the Central Intelligence Agency con-
cluded (1) that there was no indication that Mr. Martinez had discussed Central
Intelligence Agency operations with any unauthorized persons, and (2) while
Mr. Martinez did associate socially with certain individuals of the aforementioned
project, there was no indication that he, at the time of the interview, was partic-
ipating in the operations of that project.
During the interview, it was also noted that Mr. Bernard Barker and
Mr. Martinez were socially acquainted.
