SUBJECT: CIA Seal
7 March 1950
1. An official Central Intelligence Agency Seal has been
approved by the President and announced in Executive Order No.
10111 dated 17 February 1950. A facsimile of the seal is repro-
duced on the reverse of this Notice.
2. All design suggestions received in response to CIA Notice
NO. 18-49 were carefully reviewed and submitted to the National
Heraldic Division, Department of Defense, for final determination
as to appropriateness and suitability. In view of the fact that
the approved seal included ideas of a number of the suggestions
submitted, no cash award could be made under the Employees Sug-
gestion Program.
3. The Director extends his appreciation to all participating
employees for their generous response to his request for suggestions.
