Raul "Raulito" Roa ouri, senior official of the Cuban Ministry
of Foreign Trace a d son of Cuban Foreign Minister Raul Roa y
Garcia, a victim of Fidel Castro's current "anti-corruption"
campaign and has been sent to serve three years with the non-
combatant services of the Cuban Army. At the end of this period
of service, Roa Kouri is to spend a further three-year period
working on a collective farm.
2. An example of the "frivolous activities" in which Roa Kouri had
engaged was that shortly after the arrest of former Cuban diplo-
mat Jose Gonzalez Gallarreta in connection with the plot of Major
Rolando Cubela against Fidel Castro, Roa Kouri had had "the imper-
tinence" to, telephone Captain Jose Abrantes and interest himself
in the condition of Gonzalez Gallarreta.1

Comment. A possible interpretation of the incident
is that this telephone call seemed to indicate at the least
that Roa Kouri had sincerely believed in the innocence of
Gonzalez Gallarreta, since he hardly would have been rash
enough to seek to support him otherwise.
