states that the
TierseucheneTorschungsanstalt Insel Riems (Animal Disease Research Institute,
Riens Island) is steadily growing in size. The Institute presently comprises
Riems Island, apartment dwellings near Greifeuald, Kos Island, and another
island about four hours travel time from Riems. On this latter island work
is devoted eecieeteelyeo investigations on foot and mouth disease virus type
(MKS-AT:Irustee e).
2� The Eiens Island Institute is also doing research on infeetious anemia of
solipeds, dietemper and hog cholera. A severe outbreak of hog cholera ir.
East aermanl is alleged to have occurred recently and may have induced the
Institute to investigate production procedures for hog cholera vaccine.

4. Roehrer removed the SED-orientated persons on ?ions Island, particularly
Dr. med. Starke, by sending them to instruction courses and to similar
aseignments. Dr. Starke is now a physician at the Institut fuer Tolluutechutz-
impfung in Potsdam, under Professor Sartorius,
