Approved for Release: 2021/12/20 CO2512543 OS 0060-72 8 February 1972 MEMORANDUM FOR.: Chief, Operations School/TR. SUBJECT ALTes Areas of Interest for DTR 's FE Trip 1. What ALT needs more than anything else is some advertising. Let us recommend that the DTR dust off his best Madison Avenue manners during his trip. Advertising on two counts, I think: first, so that Stations and Bases will be aware of ALT's existence and purposes, and; second, so that capable CS officers will learn that a two-year or longer hitch as an ALT training officer is a most interesting assignment (join ALT and see the world). 2. Our training records for calendar year 1971 suggest that ALT is not well enough known. 3. A further factor may or may not be typical of large Stations; Larry Connell encountered it in chance conversations We in ALT are not really trying to peddle our wares, but it does seem a pity if lack of awareness leads to insufficient use of a training mechanism which exists. 4. "Feedback" continues to be a problem. It is suggested that the DTR discuss with appropriate Station officers the effectiveness of our training. At- tached is a list of selected training programs conducted for FE Division by ALT during the past three years. DC/OS/ALT (b)(1) (b)(3) (b)(1) (b)(3) (b)(3) /OW.
