AIR ASIA COMPANY LIMITED AND AIR AMERICA, INC.
23 May, 1967
Meetings of the Executive Committees of Air Asia Company
Limited and Air America, Inc. were held on May 23, 1967 and the
following matters were considered:
1 - Approval of Minutes:
(a) Meetings of the Air Asia Company Limited and Air America,
Inc. Executive Committees of May 9, 1967: The minutes of the meetings
of the Air Asia Company Limited and Air America, Inc. Executive Com-
mittees of May 9, 1967 were approved.
(b) Meeting of Air America, Inc. Board of Directors of May 16,
1967: The draft minutes of the meeting of Air America, Inc. Board of
Directors of May 16, 1967 were approved for submission to the Board.
(c) Meeting of Air Asia Company Limited Board of Directors of
May 16, 1967: The draft minutes of the meeting of Air Asia Company
Limited Board of Directors of May 16, 1967 were approved for submission
to the Board.

2 - Reports:
(a) Personnel Statistics - April, 1967: Personnel increased by
110 during April, 1967 to a total of 10,184 on board.

(c) SEA Contract Flying: It was reported that flying in Southeast
Asia during the first half of May was at a high level. The Executive Com-
mittee also received a report on flying and other activities in Vietnam from
a customer representative from Saigon.
3 - Fleet Planning: The Executive Committee was provided a report on the
status of aircraft acquisitions. May 19, 1967 the Company entered into an
agreement with Bell for the purchase of five 205 helicopters. The Company
has also verbally committed to purchase three Porter aircraft from Fairchild-
Hiller. The Company recently received five 11-34 helicopters, under
bailment from the USAF, and anticipates the receipt of four more about
June 1. These H-34 helicopters are in addition to the 22 already on bailment

from the USAF and being operated by the Company, however, some of
these helicopters will be turned over to Laos at such time as they are
in a position to operate and support them. A recently acquired Beech
TenTwo aircraft is scheduled to depart Wichita, Kansas, May 24, on its
ferry flight to the Far East and another Beech TenTwo aircraft is to be
acquired about June 1 and should commence its ferry flight to the Far
East shortly thereafter.
4 - Defense of Pickett Law Suit: The Executive Committee approved the
defense of the $900,000 wrongful death action brought against Air America,
Inc. by the widow and three surviving children of Dr. Arthur D. Pickett,
one of the passengers killed in the March 23, 1967 Volpar Turbo Beech
N91284 accident.
5 - Commencement of Law Suit Against Celestial: Perfecto B. Celestial,
a Fillipino employee of Air America, Inc. , was continued on payroll and
his salary deposited to his account at the Bank of America in Los Angeles
for seven months after his unauthorized departure from Vientiane, August
2, 1966. The total unearned salary paid to Celestial was US$2,012 and
in addition the Company holds his dishonored check for US$300. Attempts
to obtain repayment from Celestial have been unsuccessful. The Executive
Committee approved the commencement of a law suit in California and the
attachment of US$1, 005 which Celestial reportedly has on deposit at the
Bank of America in Los Angeles, California.
