SUBJECT: Gerhard Mertins' Letter to DCI

As you can see, I received this from the Director. I read
it through last night and it seems obvious to me that your Division
should handle it--to the extent it needs handling in this building at
all. I assume you already know something about the people and
events, and your translator in residence,
clarify the German mysteries.

The only thing which is perhaps urgent. if it has not come
to your attention before, are the references to the attempts made
to get in touch with the DDCI.
Please let me know if you think the Director need be informed
of any aspects of this.
