Iraq: I keaders of the Nationalist Baathist party in Iraq,
encouraged '5y the decline of Qasim's prestige as a result of
reverses suffered in his military campaign against the Kurds,
are again planning his assassination. Baathist influence in
the army is increasing, and the party's section in the army
believes it now has the capability to seize and maintain con-
trol of the armed forces. The Baathists severely yigndcd
