MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Conversation with PAO re "Widows"
1. On 17 May 1989, the undersigned contacted Bill Devine,
Public Affairs Office, concerning "Widows" and and the Kronthal
case. Bill related that he had several calls from news services
concerning Kronthal's Agency employment and Corson's allegations
of connections with the Agency. The PAO stance at present is
Corson has never been employed or connected with the Agency.
2. The undersigned also spoke with Sharon Basso, PAO,
regarding Corson and Kronthal. It was related to Basso that
Corson may have received a commendation memo from the Agency,

3. Basso stated she had been contacted by representatives of
the ABC show "20/20". They plan to air a segment on "Widows" on
Friday, 19 May, at lOpm. "20/20" was asking information
concerning Corson and Paisley. She stated that, based on the 1953
acknowledgement of Kronthal's Agency employment to the newspapers
after his death, PAO would continue to acknowledge his employment.
