1. Reference dated 19 October 1949, and
subsequent telephone communications of 5 and 11 May 1950, concerning
Antonio TERRANOVA, Pasquale SCIORTINO and Giaoomo MESSALS.

2, Records of the Italian Ministry of Interior reveal that the
Investigation Section of the Court of Appeals in Palermo, Italy, is-
sued warrants for the arrest of Pasquale SCIORTINO on 7 March 1947,
12 March 1947, 19 May 1947, 21 September 1947 and 21 October 1947 for
crimes comprising massacre, abduction, severe violence, attempted homi-
cide, and illegal custody of arms. The records also indicate that a
warrant was issued on an unspecified date for the arrest of Giacomo
MESSALE for attempted homicide, abduction, membership in an armed band
and other crimes.
3. According to the Italian Ministry of Interior the extradition
of SCIORTINO was requested of the United States Government early in
May 1950.
4. A certification of the Italian Ministry of Interior's summary
of records concerning Pasquale SCIORTINO and Giaoomo MESSALR has been
made by a United States Consulate in Italy and will be made available
to you immediately upon reoeipt.
