1. On 20 July 1989, the undersigned briefed Gus Hathaway,
A/DDO/CI, on SAD's investigation into the Kronthal case. Present
at the briefing were Mr Hathaway; Ray Reardon, C/SG/CIC; and the
undersigned. (S)
2. The briefing was presented in a format detailing the major
allegations made in WIDOWS concerning Kronthal, and the results of
SAD's investigation. Mr Hathaway asked several questions and
complemented SAD on the detail of the investigation, remarking
that he believed SAD had closed the loop on the KrOnthal matter.

3. Mr Hathaway asked that a copy of SAD's report be provided
to CIC. I responded that, upon final coordination, SAD will
