Janet Gul--arrested (b)(3) on June
2004 and transferred to US custody --was a key Tallinn and
Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (Ii U) facilitator. Various reporting Indicates
that Gul worked as a facilitator and courier for al-Qa'ida field commander and
senior leader 'Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi; at the same time, he was also aiding the IMU
and former Taliban leadership, Since his detention, Gul has provided information
that has been contained In some 70 Intelligence reports about Taliban, IMU, and
al-Qatida associates and members in Pakistan; however, 20 percent of those
reports are statements of non-recognition of individuals. Moreover, during most
of Gul's debriefings, he has sought to minimize his knowledge of extremist
activities and has provided largely non-incriminating information about his
involvement in their networks,
� Gul has provided information about his efforts to transfer a small number of
Arab fighters to Shkai, Pakistan to join 'Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, his attempt to
deliver a letter from the IMU leader to the Taliban leadership containing a
request for SAM-7 missiles, and other efforts to facilitate the travel of
mujahidin or procurement of materiel. He has provided few details, however,
on the individuals he employed when facilitating the movement of Arab
fighters and equipment.
