(U) Message from the Acting Director: Saturday's Presidential Visit
(U) On Saturday, 21 January, CIA hosted President Trump, Vice President Pence, and DCIA
nominee Pompeo. Guests also included National Security Advisor Flynn and White House Chief
of Staff Priebus, among others. I had the opportunity to spend nearly two hours with the
President, Vice President, and their National Security team, and to a person, they were
complimentary of our organization, our work, and our people. The sentiments I relayed to the
President throughout the visit are the same that I described in my introductory remarks in the
OHB lobby:
"I am confident you will find that the women and men who comprise the Intelligence
Community are dedicated public servants who bring incredible expertise,
professionalism, diversity, and integrity to the national security mission."
(U) Such a visit does not happen without an incredible amount of work by hundreds of creative,
responsive, and talented officers across the Agency. I personally have never experienced a visit
on this scale, for such a significant duration, and with so limited time to plan. I think it is fair to
say that we lived up to our reputation for being an agile organization. Thank you so much for
your dedication to making this event come together so quickly and seamlessly.
