Burma: Opposition Renewing Pressure on Regime
The National League for Democracy (NLD) is risking another regime
crackdown by stepping up overt party organizing activities. NLD leader
Aung San Suu Kyi is gambling that a more activist strategy will energize
supporters, raise the organization's international profile, and refocus
international attention on the junta.
� Suu Kyi earlier this month publicly reorganized a party youth wing
without incident.
