Certain intelligence items in this publication may be designated specifically

EKorea: Pyongyang has as yet made no comment
on President Nixon's announcement that reconnais-
sance flights will be resumed with adequate pro-
tection.
A domestic broadcast from Pyongyang last night,
however, pledged that the Korean people "will in the
future, too, mete out severe punishment to aggressors
who infringe upon the sovereignty of our country."
There are no indications that North Korean
forces are preparing for offensive action
The South Korean Government has not made an
official comment on the press conference, but ini-
tial unofficial reactions are mixed.
A leading newspaper described ttie e-
cision as "well-calculated self-restraint, pre-
ferring negotiation rather than confrontation."
