1. On 15 October 1951, the following attended a three-hour conference in
the royal palace at Sofia:
as Vuli:o Chervenkov. Bulgarian Prime }?iniater;
b. Petur Panchevaky, Bulgarian Minister of Defense;
c. A certain Sdanov;l
d. A certain Dimitrov;2
e. A certain Georgiev;3
f. The commanders of the Second and Fourth Bulgarian Arr?.ies;
The commander of the Bulgarian Navy; and
ha A Soviet field marshal who carne by plane from Hungary with four other
. high-ranking officers on 15 October 1951.
2.. The Soviet field marshal presided over the conference at which the follow-
ing subjects were reportedly discussed:
a. The situation created by the inclusion of Greece and Turkey in the
forth Atlantic Treaty Organization;
b. The information received from Ankara, Athens, and Paris regarding the
military contacts and conferences of Generals Bradley and Slim;
c. The information received from Belgrade concerning the conferences of
General Collins in the latter city;
d. The possibility of a. Belgrade-Athens axis;
a. The Turkish position vis-a-vis Bulgaria, following the assumption
Turkey of a leading role in the Middle East; and
