tour of Western Eurbpe.) He allegedly dis ssed with these Italian
politicians the demonstrations against segregation in the US which yere to
be organited in Italy during the following months.

4. Thevoctober 1964 iSSUD of Vie Nuove, an Italian weekly magazine
owred by the Italian Communist Party, (PCI), carried an article entitled .
"What We Negroes Ask of the President" which Vie Nuove claimed Subject wrote
for its exclusive Publication. The article concerned the civil rights"
question 4. the US and did not appear to be directed specificallk to a
Communist audience. Despite the date of lts publication the article appeared to
have been written some months before.
5. An article appearing in the Wshin,4ton Post on 4 November 1964 stated
the,t Subject Was planning- a visit to the Soviet Union. He reportedly had been

- invited to the USSR, but Rev. Ralph ADZRNATiiY, .spokealen for Subject
refused to comment on the source of the invitation.
