nest fishing area in the eastern Baltic was nearer to It ipeda than to Tallinn
and much time and money could be saved by basing the istc.dan travelers there.
After three .Estonian fishermen escaped to . vieden in their ship in the summer
of 1948, the Estonian ships were turned over to the Lithuanian Traveling Fleet
ldministiation, Estonians lost the privilege of going to sea, and all ~gtonian
_?ishermen were sent back to the Estonian ;;JR.
3. The new ships were transported from Tallinn to Klaipeda via the route shown
on Attachment A. Three northbound Soviet freighters were encountered at
point .1. They were described as probably carrying coal. Twenty Latvian
fishing vessels of 12-ton, 18-ton, and 88-ton types were seer at point B.
-it point ;, a red buoy, marking the course to Lepaya, Latvian 3;R,was passed
and three lighthouses were seen in the direction of Lopaya.
