In spite of pressure exerted by Yugoslav union officials, approximately 50 per
cent of the workers in Rijeka. Yugoslavia, have failed to pay their union dues.

Rankovic Steel Plant, the Rikardo Bencic -,~nterprise and the Martinisoica Shipyard.
2. At Pulj, where there are 10,746 organized workers as against 346 non-organized,
workers are resisting the unions. At the Sooglio Olivi Shipyards, 1,151
workers refused to pay their dues. In the military collective enterprise,
Primorje, the union leaders no longer know hc~w many of the workers belong to
the union. At the cerzent factory, 200 of the 500 workers have not paid their
dues. Of the 183 workers enployod by the Pulj Popular Committee, only 48
have paid their dues.
3 The follaming anti-=anion note was posted on a wall at the Scoglio Olivi
Shipyards: "The union organization has not helped the workers. Union
activity has been so weak that it is of no value. Nothing has been done for
the ideolopic(.1 improvement of the masses. The union leaders have no energy
and no clear ideas. They have too riany meetings and too many good dinners."
