1. In a conversation yesterday afternoon with Henry-i-t-t;"
Newsweek magazine, while we were working on our respective lawns,
he mentioned that his staff is looking at the question of possible Agency
involvement in the beginning stages of preparation for the "Watergate."
He said that it is known that the Agency was approached for help before
CREEP--don't know whether it was a matter of not trusting Pa. ray
and the FBI or what--but that Helms turned them down cold.
now looking into the possibility that Howard Hunt might have bee suggested
as one who had recently left the Agency--"but knowing Dick it fnigEt7ve
stopped right there with him without mention to anyone else the Agency."

He said there are a couple of people now in the Middle East ookin,g into
this possibility.
