Colby Director Central Intelligence Agency Washington, D. C. 20505 Dear Bill: Cnifeb Ziatez Zentate SELECT COMMITTEE ON PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES (PURSUANT TO S. RES. 60, 930 CONGRESS) WASHINGTON. D.C. 20510 Since our telephone conversation on Friday, I have requested Senator Ervin to convene the Committee in executive session to hear my suggestion for the declassification of the CIA- related material. I told Senator Ervin of our conversation and, based in part on that conversation in which you indi- cated that Wednesday would give you enough time to cover the material in order to identify particularly sensitive items, Senator Ervin has agreed that the Committee would meet on Wednesday. I understand George Carey has been in touch with George Murphy and requested a copy of the report. Carey seemed uncertain as to whether I intended to release the report only or the report, documents and transcripts. Of course the latter is my intention. I understand from our telephone conversation that you believe you have copies of all that material in your possession already. If you do not, we will be glad to help you obtain copies. Senator Ervin and I both agree that to the extent that it is possible, it would be far better to identify the material that we mutually agree can be declassified and released and for the Agency to make the official declassification. In this connection, indicated that there may have been a few inaccuracies in tne report. We have asked to identify them and so far we do not have that information. I would be particularly grateful if someone fr Agency could point out the factual inaccuracies which may have had in mind, or which may otherwise appear, since my intention is to see that the report is accurate in every detail.
