A spokesman for the Central Intelligence Agency said today that
Richard Helms, Director of Central Intelligence, characterized the
allegation that the Central Intelligence Agency was connected in any
way with purported bugging of Democratic Headquarters at the Watergate
buildings as "completely and utterly false". Director Helms added
the Central Intelligence Agency has no domestic responsibilities and
has never been asked or ordered to participate in any way in any such
undertaking. The story is simply not true.
