MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Science and Technology
SUBJECT: Disposition of Project AQUILINE Assets
1. This memorandum contains a request for the approval of the Deputy
Director for Science and Technology. Such request is contained in
paragraph 3.
2. The termination and closeout activities of Project AQUILINE are
nearing completion and should be completed about 15 January 1972. Following
Is the plan, subject to your approval, for the inventory, storage, and
subsequent disposition of the Program's assets:
a. Storage:
(1) The Program's assets located at the contractor
and subcontractors will be inventoried, packaged and
shipped to Area 51. These assets, both hardware and
documentation, will be combined with the on-site Area 51
assets and then semi-permanently stored in one of the
Area 51 buildings.
(2) The Program's Washington, D.C. documentation
will be inventoried, packaged, and shipped
� (3) A complete inventory of the Program's assets
and documentation will then be compiled for subsequent
distribution to possible interested users.
b. Custodial Responsibilities:
(1) OSA will remain responsible as Program
Custodian until further notice.

(2) , or his delegated
representative, will be the Property Accounting and
Releasing Authority.
c. Property Release Procedures:
(1) Subsequent to the completion of the complete
Program inventory, approximately 15 January 1972, OSA
will notify possible users that the AQUILINE property
is available.
(2) Interested users or agencies may then examine
the Program inventories to determine the usability of
the AQUILINE Program assets for their projects,
components, etc.
(3) Interested users or agencies will then submit
a written request, specifying the system, component,
technical documentation, etc. that they desire to be
transferred from the AQUILINE Program to their use.
(4) The property component, technical documents,
etc. that have been requested as stated above will be
released in writing by the Property Accounting Authority.
In cases where office policy requires clarification
relative to the releasability of any portion of the
AQUILINE Program, a recommendation will be submitted to
the DDS&T for decision.
3. It is requested that the DDS&T approve the plan as outlined in
paragraph 2.
