The disappearance of the Argentine ambassador to Venezuela while
visiting Buenos Aires added yet another incident to the picture of
continuing political violence in Argentina. The government has con-
tended that the human rights situation in Argentina must be considered
in the context of its obligations to combat terrorism and maintain
public order.
