During the period between late 1952 and early 1953, the division was
scheduled to be assigned as escort to the vessel DORSCR which was
nearing completion, to turn over to the border police all coast
protection boats without crews by early 1953, and to receive in return
18 Minen-Raeum- and Leger-Boote (minelayer-sweepers) (WL). An order
for the construction of these vessels was placed with the Volkswerft
Stralsund (Nationalized Shipyard) by the HVS and six of them were to
be delivered to the division in late 1952. In early 1953, the division
was allegedly to receive from the Soviet navy a former German destroyer
and an unknown number of former German nineaweepers.3
