Russian Air Force in Germany. In addition to the new fighter regiment reported
at Koethen, a new fighter regiment has been observed at Finow. The nine fighter
regiments rihich were not of ~ected by the mo -ernent of fighter regiments in
October have been identified at their airfields. The fighter regiments at
Koethen and Finow must be new units whose arrival in the Russian Zone was not
observed, It was reported'that two trainloads of airmen from the USSR arrived
at Koethen during November. The origin of the troops at Finow has not been
determined. Flying activity observed there to date is characteristic of training
and retraining of pilots, Observations indicate a possibility that the units
at Koethen and Finow were newly activated with new personnel and were equipped
with aircraft left by the fighter regiments transferred to the USSR. The
numbers on the aircraft observed at these fields are the same as those trans-
ferred in October.

is continuing. A second new fighter regiment has been identified in the Russian
Zone. of Gen.iany.
2. Russian Ground Forces. The following reassignments of posts in the Eighth
Guards Army have been determined: One mechanized regiment of the 21st Guards
Mechanized Division has been transferred from Leipzig--Schoenau to Halle. A
rocket launcher regiment of the 29th Motorized !tifle Corps has been shifted
from Leipzig-Schoenau to the corpsf billeting area. Heedquarte,c and some
component units of the 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Division at Rudolstadt
and Saalfeld have been transferred to undetermined posts? possibly to quarters
at the frdruf troop training grounds. There are indications that the vacated
quarters in Rudolstadt and Saalfeld have been designated for headquarters units
of the 28th Guards i.Uotorized Rifle Corps from Gera. Unidentified units
allegedly arrived in Lent enfeldjVogtland, in late November. Unidentified tank
units arrived in Zwickau during the same period.
3. Between 3 October and a'"out 1 December, at least 54 trainloads of recruits
arrived in the Russian Zone of Gerriany. Assuming that each train carried
1,200 men, 65,000 recruits have arrived in the Russian Zone. Between the
same dates, at least 39 to 41 trainloads of dischar ed personnel left the
Russian Zone of Gerr2nny for the USSR. By the same calculation, a, out 50,000
men left the zone during this period. Micro were vague indications that the
e:tchangc program may have ceased during the first week of December.

5o Puetnitz Airfield., which was completed in No- ember, was occupied by a fi, iter
regiment from Feenemuende on 15 November, There are indications that the
bomber regiment at Jueterbog will be transferred to Werneuchen in the near
future. The ground attack regiment at F einsdorf was transferred to Jueterbog
between 30 October and 17 Nove.nber. The transfer was'probably made because
the quarters at Reinsdorf are inadeg1r teZy 'w7interized.
