No Objection to Declassification in Full 2012/12/05: LOC-HAK-102-2-15-9 UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR POLITICAL AFFAIRS July 24, 1975 SECRE /SENS'ITIVE SFRC - ANGOLA Pat Holt called me yesterday to.inform me that the CIA has briefed certain members of the SFRC with respect to Angola. Holt asked whether I would be available to testify next week to give the Committee an explanation of our policy and of the interests of the U.S. in Angola.. When I told him that I will be on vacation next week, he said that they would like to have Bob Ingersoll testify, and no one below that level. Bob has agreed to testify. I think that he and I need to talk with you before we indicate agreement to appear. I am checking with Colby to find out just what it is the CIA has told any members of the Committee and/or staff. It is very likely that questions will also be raised regarding the Committee of 40 delibera- tions, and we need to agree on what precisely should be said to the Committee regarding this. Bill Hyland, who was at the Committee of 40 meeting, will be in on Monday. Therefore, it would be desirable to have Bob testify on this day, before Bill leaves for Helsinki. cc: Mr. Ingersoll SECRESENSITIVE MORI/CDF C00464047 B No Objection to Declassification in Full 2012/12/05: LOC-HAK-102-2-15-9
