Sir Robert Thompson has sent us his itinerary in
Vietnam and Cambodia (Tab B). He hopes to visit Phnom Penh on
August 11/12 and will be attending the GVN economic seminar (Chuck
Cooper may also be there,) August 15.1.9. We believe it would be more
useful for Sir Robert to sound the post-August 15 atmosphere in Phnom
Penh and recommend that he postpone his trip there until the 19th or
so. A proposed message to this effect is at Tab A.

Please pass the following message to Dr. Henry Kissinger
from Sir Robert Thompson:
"I visited General Vogt at NKP on 28 July
before arriving Saigon 29 July.
"Will be visiting all Regions during next
ten days and hopefully Phnom Perch on 11/12
August. Am attending GVN's economic seminar
from 15-19 August, and expect to leave Saigon
about 21 August.
"I will then stop over Singapore two days
to write report and possibly see Lee Kuan Yew
if he has returned from Ottawa for Southeast
Asia roundup.
"I expect to arrive Washington Saturday,
25 August and will be available for such
appointments as you require in the following.
week. Best contact in Washington for
arranging schedule will be George. Tanham
of the RAND Corporation.
"Please'reply soonest if timings are
inconvenient. Looking forward to seeing
you again. Regards."
