Kennedy, Deputy Assistant to the President, National Security Council DATE AND TIME; 3:15 p.m. June 24, 1973 PLACE: Mr. Kissinger's Office The White House After opening pleasantries, I gave Mr. Han Hsu the attached note which he read, then thanked me for, but had no comment. I then gave Mr. Han Hsu a copy of the final joint U. S. -U. S. S. R. communique, and asked that it be held in confidence until it is released officially, at 1:00 p. in. Washing- ton time Monday, June 25. Mr. Han Hsu confirmed that this was the final version, expressed appreciation for our providing it, and assured me that it would be held in confidence. I then made the following points: -- Dr. -Kissinger will give Ambassador Huang Chen full account of all other discussions. There were several serious and sensitive things Dr. Kissinger will wish to discuss with Ambassador Huang, but which he did not wish to put on paper at this time. These are not urgent matters nor should they be cause for concern. At re- marks this morning, the General Secretary made a comment about another summit meeting in six or eight months. This will not occur for at least a year-. MORI/CDF this page per C05406962 TOP' SECRET /SENSITIVE EXCLUSIVELY EYES ONLY No Objection to Declassification in Full 2012/12/20: LOC-HAK-478-5-16-9
