Approved For Release 2001/09/07 : CIA-RDP83-00415R008800140002-7 SECRET German Democratic Republic FDD Abstract ^ DESCRIPTION OF TWO CHERvICAL PROCESSES IN USE, AT OBERSPREEVERKE (4 pp; German; April- May 1949) This document consists of photostats of two 2-page instruction sheets pre- pared by the OSW (Oberspreewerke, I3erlin-Oberschoeneweide) in April and May 1949 on the production of two types of paste used in the manufacture of transmitter tubes. Each instruction sheet includes a general description of the item to be produced and its use, a list of equipment required for lX production (compara- tively simple equipment, such as scales, graduates, funnels, bottles, and a sna ll ball mill), a list of the chemical ingredients, and a step by step description of the production process. In both cases, the process appears to be more of a mechanical mixing process than an actual chemical reaction. The two types of paste, both of which are used for spraying or dipping grids in order to improve their performance, are called "Zirconium paste Zr 2 F 2" and "Tantalum - graphite blackening paste". The components of the former are hydrogen- satruated powdered zirconium metal, paraffin, naphthalene, methanol, and xylol. Components of the latter are graphite paste, tantalum powder, ammonia water, and distilled water.
