In the majority of cases the villages of Drogobych Oblast the grain was still uncut and apparently no one tut it after that. There were no special violations during the grain delivery activities in the villages of Drogobych Oblust, for the jtate collected the grair, directly from all over and took it to grain storage points. During the height of the harvest the squads and their master sergeant- operatives would lie in hiding in the cornfields to catch the peasants bringing produce back from the fields. They would search them to see i oer they were bringing grain back from the fields. When they found grain s' someone, they would confiscate it and then arrest the person. In the r, oes reported on in Lvov Oblast, the UGB helped the administration exact tht grain revisition during harvest time by sending out to the villages bri, aes composed of those same aGB man who, with their terrorist methods, had e confiscating grain from the peasants. Thera were five to eight men in e ee such brigade. At threshing time the ambushes were moved, eenerally to the eiolus and te the edges of the villages. The following are a few facts about the terror there was during harvest in the villages of Khodorovski Haien. In the village of Molodinohe the district agent of the militia, iaelyuta arrested Dreyer? Lyalka, Danka nkushevsku, about 50 years old, andre, Verona, and Pilip Verona., and charged them with sabotabe of the harvest. in the village of 4hirave the district agent of the militia men arreste Stepan Verbovski and Laikheilo Sokhen, and ohareed them with inciting the oeasants to boycott the narvest. The severest punishe,nt for loafing on the job was forced labor for three to six months and a deeec- tion of 25 percent from their pay. There is a dispensary in the sugar refinery, but a sick person cee e excused from work only if he has a high temperature, and even in the mo serious cases the doctors do not give out any certificates but hospital slips. There is no irregularity in the work in the sugar refinery. Only scattered cases do the workers leave their jobs, for example, because ot low pay, hard work, or because of their health. Breakfaet consists of two courses: is, and soup and groats. Dinner of two courses: meat and potatoes, and borshch. Mail -& change Administrative Orders The most noteworthy administrative orders concerned building covered threshing floors in the fields and raised platforms from which the fie can be watched (in the kolkhoz villages), preparation for the farm Inv tory before the beginning of the haevest, on-time delivery of the grai requisition, and fixing the roads. The MVD issued an order forbidding people to leave the village at nig and go out to the fields. Schools There have been some Changes in the schools. Teachers from the Easteel Ukraine have been removed and their plop's filled by teachers from the Eestern Ukraine. For the whole of the area reported on there were a n1 of cases where teachers from the Eastern Ukzaine were removed from the: jobs. And besides this, there were minty changes made in place of teace for teachers from the Eastern Ukraine as well as from the eestern0 a2th an 3th grade was set up in the village of Devyatriki, Novostrilishchane Raion. This made the beginnings of a second secondary school in this raion, since up to now the only secondary sohool had been in the raion center. Cultural Life The cultural life of the area was eipplied by several dramatic clubs le the Bilerke area ehich would gat together every so often and eut on a p:-- diaction and by programs that were arranged almost every Sunday in a nAr of villagee in the Vinnikiv and Bibrka areas. The young people took part in these programs. Mobile movie units would go around to the villages ee a month and show films for the people. There were fewer of tease movie units in the villages of the raions of Drogobyoh ?bleat than in those oh Lvov, in the Vitnikiv area, The audience for the most part was made up school pupils and some of the younger children.
