Began With the Birth
of Magnetic
Tape Recording...
The first professional quality magnetic tape
recorder, delivered by Ampex in 1948, was a
system; it required the simultaneous development
of a new recording technology, a tape medium on
which the recording was to be made and a
signal recovery technique to achieve the desired
reproduction quality. From this early audio
recording system, Ampex pioneered the first
magnetic tape instrumentation system . . . helped
to develop computer tape memory systems ...
and finally, introduced the world to the first
Videotape recorder. Today, when you work with
Ampex system engineers, your project receives the
attention of men whose experience spans many
disciplines. The systems group of Ampex engineers
is a focal point for all Ampex experience in video,
audio, instrumentation and computer techniques.
The end product of this group is the creative
fulfillment of your functional system requirements.
