Subject: Proposal for prototype of "Split-Format 1540 Light Table
and Mount for Various Microstereoscopes"
Gentlemen:
? In response to your verbal request, we are pleased to submit our pro-
posal for a fixed price contract to supply one prototype model of the
light table described in your specification referenced above.
Most of the basic features of the proposed unit are contained in the
Catalog #910586, Split-Format Mechanical Take-up Light Table,
recently developed and demonstrated. The subject table has a larger
lighted area and broader scanning range of the microscope carriage
in the "Y" direction.
In order to properly accommodate the wider format, we anticipate
using a center-support elevating table frame, rather than a cantilevered
type, to provide greater stability and keep the overall width and weight
of the equipment within limits.
WE take no specific exceptions to the specifications at this time. All
requirements appear to be realizable within the existing state of the
art. In many details, it will be required that the customer make a
choice of method of meeting specifications as the design evolves.
Under paragraph 4.6.1. Reliability, we bid on the basis that the pro-
totype, having been demonstrated at our plant, can be delivered and
invoiced at 80% of the contract price, the balance payable on completion
of the reliability test.
