.1. This memorandum is in response to your requirement dated 1+ November
19611 which requests line drawings, photo mosaics, and various measurements of
the single silo ICBM complexes in the USSR.
2. The materials requested are appended as enclosures MEB-P-1021/614
through mm-P-l031+/614-. The transparencies, showing the relative locations of
the sites at each complex are projected at the same scale. The photo mosaics
from which the line drawing overlays were prepared are unrectified and only
approximately to the same scale.
3. Measurements obtained to date from TID/NPIC for the diameter of the
silo coring have- a spread such that they are inconclusive. It can be stated,
however, that the silo coring'is probably 20-35 feet in diameter. Similar
measurements for the excavation itself (120 by 110 feet); the rectangular area
adjacent to the excavation (200 by 105 feet) and the square area (80 by 80 feet)
adjoining-the opposite side of the excavation have been fairly consistent.
While the possibility exists that there may be minor individu:variations,
these are regarded as good statistical averages.
4. No pattern is evident in the placement of the sites, other than an
apparent. minimum desirable spacing of 4.0 nautical miles.
