TITLE/SIGNIFICANCE:
Newly-identified Soviet mobile instrument landing system (ILS)
COMMENT:A new Soviet mobile instrument landing system ILS has been identified and
temporarily designated by NPIC as the UAZ-452-type ILS. This system consists of
two similar-appearing UAZ-452 marker beacon transmitters w/ associated generator
trailer-- one apparently configured to serve as an ILS localiaer antenna and the
other apparently configured to function as an ILS glide slope antenna. The UAZ-452
serving as the localiger antenna is normally observed with its long axis oriented
perpendicular to that of its associated runway, while the UAZ-452 serving as the
glide slope antenna has its long axis oriented parallel to that of its associated
