Two high frequency (HF) communications facilities -- one transmitting and
one receiving -- have been newly identified in the Wulumuchi area of China:

The Wulumuchi HF Communications Facility East (transmitting) is paired
with Wulumuchi HF Communications Facility South (receiving) to form an integrated
radio-communications terminal (Figure 1). The probable correspondents for both
facilities are in the Peking area. It is possible that this radio-communications
terminal links the Wulumuchi Headquarters (HQ) Hsinchiang Military District (BE
43-47-30N o87-39-05E) with the Ministry of National Defense, Peking
Military Region.
The Wulumuchi HF transmitting facility (:Figure 2, Table 1) is located on the
eastern edge of the city and immediately south of Wulumuchi HQ Hsinchiang

Military District. The facility contains one rhombic antenna (item E), three.
quadrant antennas (items B through D), 12 horizontal dipole antennas (items G
through P), and four masts that are arranged in an unidentified pattern. The

a dissipation line on the rhombic antenna indicates that this is a transmitting
facility. The facility is unsecured and contains two control buildings (items
1 and 8) among 21 structures.
The Wulumuchi HF receiving facility (Figure 3) is located 3.5 nautical miles
(nm) south of the city. This facility is unsecured and contains two 3-2-2-3
fishbone antennas (items A and B) arranged in a space diverse pattern, one control
building (item 1), and one support building (item 2).
