Defensive Strongpoints, Shuang Cheng Tzu

1. This report describes defensive strongpoints associated with the
Significant Unidentified Installations (SUIs) near Shuangchengtzu, China. The
report contains a table, a location map, three annotated photographs, and three
sketches. The information is based upon available KEYHOLE photography and is
current through April 1970.
2. Twelve defensive strongpoints have been identified in the Shuangchengtzu
f area of China. Most of the strongpoints are near Significant Unidentified
Installations (Figure 1). The number and types of structures at the defensive
strongpoints vary (See Table 1).
3. Defensive strongpoints were first observed under construction near
Shuangchengtzu in late 1967. Most of the strongpoints, however, were first
observed under construction in 1969. By late 1969, all but defensive strong-
points 1 and 12 (Table 1) had been completed.
4. The three types of structures found in association with the defensive
strongpoints are weapons shelters, automatic weapons positions, and bunkers.
Although eleven of these strongpoints are similar in content, all do not contain
the same type or number of structures. The weapons shelters and automatic
weapons positions are similar to those found at several of the SUIs.
5. The one defensive strongpoint not like the others is a ditched, tri-
angular-shaped strongpoint currently under construction (Figures 2 and Table 1,
item 1). No structures are observed.
6. Three variations of bunkers are observed at the defensive strongpoints.
These have not been observed at any of the SUIs. The most common type is shown
on Figure 4.
