The condition of the Electric Furnaces should be verified after their installation in place. The F-30 and F-50 (0KB- 210A) Electric Furnaces are furnished fully assem- bled and lined. The heating elements, to avoid breakage, are not mounted in the Furnace, but are packed separately and shipped together with the Furnace. The heaters should be placed into the Furnace chamber only after completion of all erection work on the Furnace itself and on the electrical equip- ment. Erection of the Furnace and of the respective electrical equipment, as well as drying of the re- fractory brick lining and operation of the Furnace, _ should be carried out fully in accordance with the instructions of Makers' Works. The heating elements, if correctly operated and protected against overheating above 1300? C should give minimum 500 hours of service without any appreciable ohmic resistance variation. Further service at reduced power is still possible by increa- sing the transformer terminal voltage. When replacing some of the heating rods, see that their unit resistances at the working tempera- ture are approximately the same. In order to avoid cracks in the products to be heated when charged into the Furnace at 1300? C, they should be preheated to 850? C. They are used for opening and closing indicating lamp circuits, interlocking and other control circuits with volta- ges up to and including 220 V. Provision is made for reserve of one mercury arc rectifier which can supply the motor of any stand. In dependence of the motor power the recti- fiers for a rectified current up to 1500A (6 valves) or up to 3000 A (12 valves) are used. The recti- fied voltage?up to 825 V. The rectifiers for a rectified current up to 200 A supplying from a. c. mains are used for exciting rolled motors. The motor speed regulation is performed by a change of voltage as well as by a change of ex- citing current. ? In the latter case the motor operating moment is decreased inversely proportional to the rota- tion speed. Such a method of regulation permits to accomplish the rolling of heavy and light assortment at the most commercial speeds thereby it permits rational using of the electric drive power. The grid control of mercury arc rectifiers is ac- complished by means of static phase shifter made in the form of- an inductive bridge with a con- trolling organ in the form of a choke with mag- netization. The phase shifter is controlled from a magnetic amplifier having several control wind- ings each of which performs definite functions. The system reliability, quick action and exact- ness are accomplished by means of using for control and regulation of static apparatus. The magnetic amplifier controlling the recti- fier in the armature circuit predetermines the motor rotation speed in the ranges up to the base speed. The rotation speed upper than base is pre- determined by the magnetic amplifier of the ex- citing circuit rectifier at a permanent voltage of the motor armature. Automatic speed regulation on the whole range of speeds is accomplished by a tachogenerator connected with the motor shaft. The tachogenerator voltage affects the magnetic amplifier of an armature mercury arc rectifier. The adjustment of the motor predetermined speed can be performed as separately for each stand as well as for all stands simultaneously?by means of a common master apparatus. The motor speed deceleration can be accom- plished by theitduction of the armature voltage or by the increase of exciting flow. The motors are translated into the regime of dynamic brak- ing to perform the rapid motor deceleration at decreasing the speed. If necessary the motor re- verse is accomplished by switching the exciting winding. The electromagnetic Voltage Stabilizers can be used in all installations where a constant RMS or mean voltage value is required, e. g., supply to radio installations, measuring circuits, automatic control circuits, remote control, etc. CONSTRUCTION The Stabilizer is a high leakage inductance transformer. The transformer Stabilizer consists of a shell type magnetic system with a magnetic shunt. The following windings (coils) are ar- ranged on the core: the primary, compensating and secondary. Owing to the hig,h leakage, the transformer is mounted on a base of non-magnetic material. A terminal board, to change over for ,a 120 or 220 V line supply to the Stabilizer, is attached to the transformer. The Stabilizer is enclosed in a case. Air open- ings are provided in the case to improve the cool- ing of the Stabilizer. The Stabilizers .are designed for normal opera- tion in a horizontal position with the case up. wards. The Type AM-6 127-4 Motor is available with two endshield bearings and shaft extension to take a pulley or coupling (Style 1112). The shaft extension has a light keying fine fit (2nd Class in the bore system). The Type AM-6 127-4 Motor is available drip- proof with double-sided symmetrical radial ven- tilation by vanes mounted or the rotor. The air is admitted through openings at the lower part of both encIshields and escapes through ports at each side of the frame. at 40?C at 45?C at 50?C The Motor is to operate in rooms with an ambient temperature not below +5?C and not above +35?C. The slip rings are fitted with a brush-lifting and short-circuiting gear. The brushes are copper- graphite, 6 per slip ring; the total number of brushes is 18. The stator and rotor winding ends are brought out to separate cast-iron boxes arranged on the frame right-hand side looking from the driving shaft extension; the terminals are fixed on a laminated insulation board located inside the box.
