SUBJECT: Clearances for Presidential Transition Team

1. The Office of Security is prepared to grant SCI access
Agency Top Secret clearance and issue VNE badges
to

valid
those memners of the Presidential Transition Team who hold
clearances. There is no requirement to grant clearances to the
President-elect and Vice President-elect and the Cabinet designees.

2. In the past, when a Presidential Transition Team member did
not hold a valid clearance, the Office of Security arranged for an
expedite background investigation by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation or the Agency so that an appropriate security
determination could be made. It is expected that these policies
will be adhered to during the upcoming transition period.

3. As representatives of the Office of the President,
polygraph

processing is not required.
4. As in the past these clearance actions will be handled
by
the Staff and Operations Branch of Clearance Division.
