So much difficulty was encountered with pickup on long leads in the tfX s.o e sweep chassis that it was decided to rebuild this chassis. Assembly of thep rebuilt unit is nearing completion. Assembly of the breadboard system in the new roof lab location was completed. Some further reduction of interference was achieved. The mance in the new location was much improved. Satisfacto peofor- terrain with.good resolution was achieved. The radio towers ateAnnapol.is, located about 16 miles away were identified on the display. Aircraft flying through the beam and taxiiing around the airport were displayed. The bread- board optical system did not present an image wi,th.adequate brightness. The supplier gave up on the two color tube as they could not achieve the brightness improvement predicted. A crude breadboard optical system using mirrors and a dichroic was made. up at Westinghouse. This presented an image of adequate brightness with no parallax error. The final model optical system was received. It presents an image 5 or 6 times as bright as the breadboard optical system since the lenses are that much larger. An effort will be made to incorporate a reflective system into one of the optical systems for comparison. 11 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/12/06: CIA-RDP89B00709R000400890011-6 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/12/06: CIA-RDP89B00709R000400890011-6 LEGIZpO A 9QELRJ#gAAT QLQCTPOg1Q OQSi64 CA e i=M13 0 TQSTTt;,(i 07 CLT^DOLQTE -ADS-00 C (, TAI 9rQVC TUQAL 614S#Cn 0 mZ=wr46-4 0 ADSQm31T p @ ?JT9 0 ca= Q axCTC?.
