"THE RUBLE WAR" CBS NEWS REPORT ON SOVIET CHALLENGE ON CBS RADIO
"The Ruble War?Russia's Economic Threat To America," a spe-
cial CBS News full-hour report to the Americaa people on Soviet eco-
nomic penetration of Europe and the under-developed countries, will
be broadcast on CBS Radio Wednesday, July 23 at 8:00-9:00 PM, EDT.
Convinced that Russia's expanding foreign aid and trade pro-
gram represent "the most serious challenge ever faced by this country
in peacetime," CBS News has assigned six members of its staff of cor-
respondents to report on the potential scope of this threat.
Participants in the broadcast will include:
Daniel Schorr: CBS News Moscow Correspondent for three years;
Howard K. Smith: CBS News Chief European Correspondent for
ten years, currently assigned to Washington, D. C.;
Ernest Leiser: CBS News Bonn Correspondent, who within the
past year has spent much time in Hungary Romania, Poland, Yugoslavia
and France;
Winston Burdett: CBS News Rome Correspondent, a veteran re-
porter of the Mediterranean and Middle Eat Countries, recently vis-
ited Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon collecting material for
this broadcast;
Peter Kalischer: CBS News Tokyo Correspondent, veteran re-
porter of twelve years in the Far East;

Richard C. Hottelet: CBS News Correspondent, veteran of many
years as a reporter in Germany and Russia, Hottelet recently toured
Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Venezuela to obtain material for
this report.
"The Ruble War?Russiats Economic Threat To America" will be
produced under the supervision of CBS News.
