Week of 9 - 15 July 1986
1. This memorandum is for information only.
2. The activities of the Office of Security (OS) during
the week of 9 - 15 July 1986 were highlighted by the following
items:
d. On 11 July, members of the Information Systems
Security Division (ISSD) met with representatives of the Office
of Development and Engineering (OD&E) to discuss their proposed

configuration for providing complete network connectivity from
OD&E to OD&E field and contractor facilities. The purpose of
the meeting was to understand the computer security
requirements for configuring this type of network and to
propose alternative plans. The OD&E representatives will
evaluate the alternative plans and present a final proposal to
ISSD.
e. On 10 July, Office of Security Personnel met with
representatives of OTS/Graphics and Authentication Division,
and the Polaroid Corp. to give Polaroid an opportunity to
present their "Video ID" digital badge making machine. Also
discussed was a strategy to improve the Agency's badging system
and badge making process.
g. On 15 July, representatives from various Security
components gathered to discuss present and future security
policies This meeting was the
first of a newly created Office of Security Sub Working Group
h. On 14 July, fifteen Security Officers graduated
from the Special Agents Training Course. These officers will
be assigned as investigators to Security's
i. After coordination with OTE and the DO, the
Directorate of Operations Familiarization Program for Security
Officers began on 15 July. This series of seven two-hour
presentations is intended to provide Security Officers with a
better understanding of DO culture, organization, and operating
procedures. Particular emphasis will be placed on the
responsibilities of the Case Officer/

j. There was strong interest generated by a
memorandum recently distributed by Security to Offices and
Divisions in all four Directorates which offered briefings
concerning current physical and technical security issues, the
CIA polygraph and clearance programs, employee security, and
counterintelligence activities. The Office's Security
Education Staff is currently coordinating the requests and
scheduling briefings.

from a variety of Security Offices during which security
policies present and future,
were discussed. This meeting represents the first of a
bi-weekly, regularly scheduled meetira of the newly created
Office of Security Sub Working Group

configuration for providing complete network connectivity from
ODE to CDS, and ODE contractors. The purpose of the
meeting was to understand the computer security requirements
for configuring this type of network and to propose alternative
plans. The OD&E representatives will evaluate the alternative
plans and present a final proposal to ISSD.
8. On 10 July, members of PTS/EAG met with
representatives of OTS/Graphics and Authentication Division,
and the Polaroid Corp. to give Polaroid an opportunity to
present their "Video ID" digital badge making machine. In

Director of Security made the closing remarks and presented
