The Heats, Government has reportedly established new concentration camps
in Albania within the last four months. People arrested in southern
Albania are sent to camps in northern Altania, and vice versa.* Seventy-
two percent of the internees are mons. the rest women (presumably there
are no children In these camps). All suffer terribly from lack of food
and medicine.
Typhus is prevalent among the internees, and is also said to be widespread
in the cities, villages and military posts. In Leskovild, 25 soldiers of
an infantry te.ttalion died in January 1951, while %SOO children died in
various localities, as a result of the diSeaSeo
