SUBJECT: Expiring Laws
Reference: Your memorandum, same subject, January 2, 1986.
1. The following is provided in response to referenced memorandum:

a. It is recommended that Section 8087 of the FY 1986 DoD
Appropriations Bill (Pub. L. 99-190) pertaining to the procurement of
professional mapping, charting and geodetic services by DMA, be permitted to
expire.
b. Section 8091 of the FY 1986 DoD Appropriations Bill (Pub. L.
99-190) will affect the Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) upon expiration. This
section provides authority for DMA to exchange or furnish mapping, charting,
and geodetic (MC&G) data, supplies or services to a foreign country pursuant
to an agreement for the production or exchange of MC&G data. The FY 1987
Intelligence Authorization Bill contains a provision to amend Title 10,
Chapter 167, by adding a new Section 2795 to provide for the exchange of MC&G
data. It is recommended that Section 8091 of Pub. L. 99-190 be permitted to
expire if a new Section 2795 is added to Chapter 167 of Title 10 when the FY
1987 Intelligence Authorization Bill is signed into law.
