1. ln early-Septemoer 1953 Rommel (fnu), the former head of the Eastern
sales Office (Disp VD) of VEB Carl Zeiss, Jena, returned from a pro-
longed stay in. China, where he had gone in the spring of 1953. Rommel
will in the future be charged with relations between the Zeiss firm
and DIA. His visit to China was to make preparations, for opening a
',eiss branch in that country.. In the near future9Seiss will establish
a sales branch and' a supply depot in Peking.
2. Rommel brought along the following Chinese orders, which were accepted
by Zeiss and which will be carried out in 1953:
4,600 field glasses, type "BINOCTAR", with the following specifi-
cations. amplifying factor 7; objective diameter 50 rim; geometric
light power 50.4; field of vision at one, kilometer distance, 128 mm;
vision power coefficient at dusk 350.
b. 1,450 field classes, type "DELTR=S": amplifying factor 8;.
objective diameter 30 mm; geometric light power 14.06; .field
of vision at one kilometer distance 150 mm; vision power coefficient
at dusk 240.
o. 650 field glasses, t:pe "PENT=R": amplifying factor 15; :objective
diameter 50; geometric light power 11.1; field of vision at one
kilometer distance 81 mm; vision power coefficient at dusk 750.
d. 100 binocular telescopes (binokulare Fernrohre), each ith inter-
changeable amplifying power of 20 and 40#
30 All field glasses and telescopes are to be provided with graded plates
(Strichplatten).
